Curriculum

The material leads.
You follow.

There's no fixed plan for what you'll make, though you will finish a piece. What we're really working with along the way is attention.

01How a session works

We begin with the clay, not with a plan. Working by hand - no wheel involved - you'll feel where the clay wants to move, and let the shape emerge from that conversation rather than from a sketch or idea decided in advance. For beginners, I'll guide the technical basics as they're needed, but the guiding principle stays the same throughout: the material tells you what it wants to become, if you're willing to listen rather than direct.

This isn't a shortcut past skill - you'll still learn the fundamentals of handbuilding: pinching, coiling, shaping, finishing. But the order and the outcome stay open, and that openness is often where the real work happens.

02Who this is for

Complete beginners are welcome - no prior experience with clay is expected. I also work with people who aren't looking for a ceramics class at all, but a way to get out of their head and into something physical and unhurried. If you feel stuck - creatively, personally, or just generally - clay is a wonderfully effective way to get in touch with your own truth.

03Where

Sessions run from Spark, Breestraat 36, in de Vijfhoek, Haarlem, on Monday mornings. Details on how to book are on the services page.
